CAR PARTS: Metallic Transports.

I started my series Car Parts in 2012. Initially attracted to the light and abstract patterns of reflections on water, I soon began noticing reflections on cars as well. For me these dream-like images combine elements of gestural energy from Abstract Expressionism with the bright colors of Pop art in a tribute to the glamour that American society has long associated with the automobile. They are akin to what John Chamberlain was doing with his metal sculptures of crushed cars.

Looking for the extraordinary in the ordinary, the metallic surfaces become canvases" for my photographic “paintings.” Their bright colors, scrapes and dents present enigmatic landscapes, refracted reality,

Finding them along the street, in ugly parking lots, shopping centers and strip malls is, for me, a redemptive act that reveals beauty in the banal and re-examines our relationship to the automobile and its environs.
